Parent Compact

Hofer Elementary School Parent Compact

Troy Hofer Elementary School and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title 1, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), agree that this compact outlines how the parent(s), the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.

School Responsibilities

Troy Hofer Elementary School will:

  • Establish and communicate a clear understanding of the knowledge and skill students are expected to learn through rigorous instruction, best practices and continual professional development to cultivate a professional community of learners.
  • Be kind, welcoming, positive, and supportive to maintain a safe, peaceful, and trusting educational home.
  • Provide effective social-emotional learning and practices to create a safe and positive learning environment that fosters belonging.
  • Cultivate communication with parents/families through parent check-in calls or emails, weekly newsletters, Back to School Night, Parent Educationals and Parent-Teacher conferences.
  • Accurately measure and monitor student learning to provide varied and rigorous instruction to support every student in achieving their highest potential to inspire a passion for lifelong learning.
  • Provide parents with regular communication on their children’s progress through formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide parent(s) reasonable access to staff, specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows: by phone, email, and individual conferences.

Family Responsibilities

Troy Hofer Elementary Families will:

  • Make regular attendance a priority, and talk to my child about what and how they are learning in school.
  • Parent(s) will cooperate to help build a strong trusting bridge between home and school to collaboratively encourage a passion for lifelong learning.
  • Utilize resources to help build a bridge between home and school.
  • Stay informed about my child’s education and communicate regularly with the school in order to make decisions relating to my child’s education and social-emotional well being.
  • Prepare for their educational day by eating a healthy breakfast, getting plenty of rest, establishing a consistent routine, regularly attending the school day and getting to school on time.
  • Be kind, respectful and collaborative partners in creating a climate of high social and academic expectations for student success.

Student Scholars Responsibilities

Troy Hofer Elementary Scholars will:

  • Come to school each day prepared, ready to learn, and do my best.
  • Challenge themselves to take risks and persevere in their learning.
  • Seek feedback about their learning from their teachers and reflect on their learning and the feedback they receive for their growth and achievement.
  • Be accountable for their learning expectations by ensuring that they are aware of what they are learning and what they need to do to be successful.
  • Contribute as a kind, collaborative, respectful,  safe and positive member of my classroom, school, and community.
